Welcome Back!
 
The first day of classes for students will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. 
The doors will open at 8:30 a.m. - students may go directly to their classroom at that time. 
All students will go to their classroom at the 8:50 a.m. bell.  Classroom teachers will bring their students to the gym for our opening assembly. 
 
Students need to bring their school supplies with them on their first day (see the lists below). 





Parental Homework
 
The first homework of the year is for parents/guardians!
Students will be bringing home a number of forms on Wednesday that need to be reviewed and signed before being returned.
Please check the included newsletter for instructions regarding the various forms.  The newsletter also contains important information regarding Religious Exercises and the Student Planner Book.
 
Forms that need to be completed and returned on Thursday, September 9:
  • registration form
  • URIS form
  • ICT Use Agreement, etc. form
  • Aboriginal Identity form
  • payment for Student Planner ($3.50).

Please label supplies to prevent loss.
 
Running shoes are needed for Physical Education classes - please ensure that students have shoes that allow them to run and participate fully in P.E. (eg. Some "skateboard" shoes are difficult to run in.  Skateboard shoes, flip flops, "wheelies", "crocs" and various other types of footwear are not appropriate for gym class).





Kids @ Play
 
Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
 
Kids @ Play is a whole-day series of group activities for the grade 4 and 5 students located around the Altona Park.
 
Students will need to bring a lunch for that day.





Back to School Barbecue
 
Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
  Supper will be at 6:00 p.m. (hotdogs $1, drinks $1).
Introductions and information at 6:45 p.m. (to include École West Park School Advisory Council information).
Classrooms will be open for parents to visit by 7:30 p.m..





Picture Day
 
Wednesday, September 22, 2010.





Student Council
 
Elections for Student Council President, as well as for classroom representatives will take place the week of September 20 - 24.
 
More information will be provided during assembly on Monday, September 20.

École West Park School Student Council Fundraiser
 
École West Park School students will be selling IGA grocery cards as a fundraiser for Student Council.
 
Cards orders will be taken from Friday, September 24 to Friday, October 8.  Cards will be delivered by the end of October.
 
Funds raised are used for a variety of purposes, including:
  • sending a child to school in India
  • helping to reduce the cost of field trips
  • purchase extra sports equipment for student use
  • purchase additional library books.





  Canteen
 

A variety of granola bars will be available in the canteen (located behind the roll-up window in the gym) at 12:00 noon for $1.00.
Milk will also be available - see the information below for purchase options.
 
 
Milk Program

Chocolate and white milk in 250 mL cartons will be available at noon most school days at a cost of $1.00 each (amounts may be limited just prior to holiday periods). 
 
Milk cards will be available for purchase from the canteen or from Mrs. Peters at a cost of $20.  Each card entitles the holder to 22 milks.  The card will get a hole punched in it each time a milk is "purchased" to record these purchases.
